Robert is a self taught artist who is retired from baking after forty years and decided to start a new career as an artist. Robert started doing South Western abstract art after reading one of Tony Hillerman first books about the prehistoric southwest. Robert started out using black pastel to study shading and composition, then turned to colored pastel. Robert had his first show in Stillwater MN with three other artist in 1989 at the then Tamarack house. Robert won an artist choice ribbon in 1989 at the Phipps Center for the arts and an award of excellence in 2005. Robert is a member of the Phipps Center for the arts. Robert is working, with acrylic paint and paper collage at this time. Robert had his work in the Hudson Hospital in 2005 for the healing hands program. Artistic beauty is all around us if we just take the time to look. My art has taken me to working with pastel, acrylic, coiled baskets, pen and ink, and paper collage. Again, I am a self taught artist who just likes to create beautiful objects.
