Chinese Brush Painting is an ancient artistic and literary tradition. To learn this technique takes constant study under an experienced master. I have been very fortunate to have such a teacher in Minnesota. Mr Yudong Shen (MeiLin Art Studio) has been kind enough to invest his knowledge and talent as I study this art form. The delicate beauty of this ancient literary technique is rich with symbolism whose meaning and beauty is embodied in the elements of landscape ... water, mountains, and trees. My work has been in numerous gallery shows, published, featured on local television and displayed at the Fine Arts Exposition at the Minnesota State Fair.
My art focuses on the traditional, literary Chinese art of brush ink and water painting. Chinese brush painting developed for me after numerous visits to China and through exploring its culture and language. The delicate beauty of this ancient literary art form compels me to develop and refine the technique and to explore the many layers of symbolism embodied in the elements of landscape ... water, mountains, and trees. I paint and work from my studio at 402 N. Main in Stillwater Minnesota. A graduate of North Park University in Chicago, I moved to Minnesota in 1996 where I live with my husband and three daughters.
