I live in Stillwater with my husband, Don, and work out of my home studio. I have two grown children and they are definitely my best works of art. Besides working as an artist I teach art part-time at Crosswinds Arts & Science School in Woodbury (an awesome school!), direct a choir at St. Jude of the Lake in Mahtomedi and am a member of the Medical Reserve Corp for Washington County. I love to travel and have found landscape inspiration everywhere I've been. It's a beautiful earth!
My paintings start as watercolors where I lay down the largest shapes and play with value. After establishing the basic composition I like to start playing with other mediums to build richness in textures. Other mediums you might find in my works are: gouache, pastel, water-soluble color pencils, collaged papers, and gold leaf. I have also been experimenting with a subtractive stencil technique and continue to push and pull my mediums as the creative spirit moves me. Not being predictable is my newest goal.
